Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes for approximately £26m. The 23-year-old scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season and becomes the latest addition to Forest's busy summer transfer window.

Kalimuendo joins after Forest secured Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee for £37m and £30m from Ipswich and Manchester City respectively at the weekend. According to The Guardian, the club have now spent over £90m in recent days as part of their continued Premier League investment strategy.

Long-term attacking depth

The striker, who started his career at Paris Saint-Germain, will provide welcome attacking depth alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi. The Nottingham Post reports Kalimuendo has agreed a five-year contract, demonstrating Forest's long-term commitment to the player.

Igor Jesus, one of seven summer signings from Botafogo, was signed to provide competition in attack. Wood scored twice in Forest's victory over Brentford on Sunday, highlighting the attacking options now available to the club.

Future transfer plans

Forest are also expected to sign Douglas Luiz, who is keen on returning to the Premier League from Juventus. The club had explored a deal for Manchester City's Rico Lewis but the 20-year-old England defender wants to remain at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola expects Lewis, who started City's 4-0 victory at Wolves, to stay at the club. "For me, I've never ever seen myself leaving," Lewis said after City's win on Saturday. "I've always wanted to play for City. It's my dream. When I'm playing with the kind of players that I'm playing with, it brings out the best of me. So I'm so happy."
